About Lucie – Founder of Kitty Cat Tree

Hi, I’m Lucie and I am passionate about cats and animals in general. I created this website to share my knowledge about cats, and help other cat lovers.

I live in Hertfordshire UK, with my partner and my 6 year old son. At the moment we are blessed to have one beautiful cat in our lives called Sushi. He came to us as a stray, handed in at one of the veterinary practices I used to work at.

I love animals and I have pretty much lived my life trying to help animals. I spent my childhood in a little town next to Orleans in France, by the Loire river, where I  was surrounded by animals. From when I was little, we always had a cat in our house.

When I was 16 years old, I moved to England with my parents and sisters. My father is English and my mother is French. When I finished high school, I went to Roehampton university to study Zoology. After I passed my BSc, I decided to do a Masters of Ecology and Ethology in St Etienne, France.

I came back to England after my Masters degree in 2007 and worked as an animal care assistant for a rescue centre for cats, dogs and rabbits in the National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford, UK for 3 years.

As well as cats, I’m very passionate about wildlife. My most exciting experience with wildlife was in 2009,  when I spent three months in Costa Rica’s jungle volunteering and collecting behavioural data for a study on wild Capuchins’ behaviour in Santa Rosa national park. Costa Rica is one of the best countries I have visited and it holds a special place in my heart.

When I came back to England, I started working in a veterinary practice and completed my Diploma in Small Animals Veterinary Nursing in 2013 and became a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN). I have since achieved the ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) Feline Nursing Certificate and now work at an animal hospital.

I love travelling, horse riding, spending time with my cats and taking care of animals.
